Jemo House
More Than A Home. A Foundation For Life
From a Midnight Rescue to Bright Futures
A safe haven, providing the care, support, and opportunities our children need to thrive.
The Crisis (2010): Founder Jessica discovered six children and a house mother facing neglect, lack of food, and zero education due to corruption at a local orphanage.
The Rescue: When local management blocked improvements, Jessica took emergency action, relocating the family to safety.
The Foundation (2013): To turn this temporary safety into a permanent promise, Too Little Children purchased land and built Jemo House—ensuring ample room for our growing family to live, learn, and grow into independent adults.
We Provide
Safe Shelter
Every child deserves a secure and comfortable home environment, with the love and support they need to thrive.
Nourishing Meals
Jemo House provides balanced meals that meet a growing child’s nutritional needs. The children and house mothers maintain a shamba, or garden, with kale, sweet potatoes, maize, beans, and carrots, buying additional supplies from local farmers.
Quality Education
We provide a complete pathway out of poverty, focusing on ultimately on independence:
Elementary & High School: We build the foundation, offering structure, a sense of belonging, and the emotional healing needed to thrive.
College Funding: We sponsor higher education in key fields most likely to lead straight to employment.
Small Business Opportunities: For paths where entrepreneurship is the best fit, we supply the seed funding and mentorship to launch a sustainable business.
Healthcare
Regular medical check-ups and treatment to maintain good health. Jemo House children and staff are covered under the national health insurance, which gives them immediate access to necessary medications, treatment, and preventive care. The cost of healthcare can be a significant financial burden to families, which is why only 25% of Kenyans have health insurance.
Developmental Support
We provide counseling, mentoring and supportive resources to address the children's developmental needs.
